NOW Attacks Obama’s Voting Record on Abortion Bills

NOW Again Attacks Obama’s Illinois Voting Record on Abortion Bills

The Washington Post

A national women’s rights group supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) distributed an e-mail yesterday accusing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) of being soft on abortion rights, revisiting an eleventh-hour attack that some analysts credited with swaying female voters in New Hampshire. The e-mail from Rosemary J. Dempsey, president of the Connecticut National Organization for Women, told members that Obama’s record during his time in the Illinois Senate included several instances in which he voted “present” instead of yes or no on abortion-related legislation.

The e-mail quotes Bonnie Grabenhofer, the president of Illinois NOW, as saying that “voting present on those bills was a strategy that Illinois NOW did not support,” and adding: “We made it clear at the time that we disagreed with the strategy. . . . Voting present doesn’t provide a platform from which to show leadership and say with conviction that we support a woman’s right to choose and these bills are unacceptable.”

I did not smoke, but I did go to McDonalds.

Tonight I am at home licking my wounds from the day. After leaving work in tears, I called a friend and he talked be through it. I did not smoke but I did go to McDonald’s. It was one of those moments when I could have chosen to smoke because I was so angry. It was one of those moments when “hot tears” filled my eyes. Thinking to myself as I got into my car, I might have to smoke over this. Fortunately, my friend wasn’t busy and had the time to listen to my rantings and ravings of the injustices I had went through at my job today. It’s really kind of sad because I had a pretty good day up until the end when an unnecessary confrontation occurred. McDonald’s hit the spot and maybe it was wrong to turn to food but, it’s not like I eat out everyday. It’s a rare occasion for me and I had to eat dinner anyway.

I am being vague about what happened because I can’t figure out how it all came about and blew up the way it did. Trying to see my part is always difficult for me and I don’t want to justify or feed my anger. So for now, I am calm, peaceful, and will pray about it before I go to sleep. Could it be that I am paranoid that if I write about it on my Blog, someone will see it and know it is them I am talking about? I don’t know how that could really happen unless I let them know about it. Oh well, I am not going to worry about it tonight. I will worry about it tomorrow.

More on becoming a Non-Smoker

Okay, 16 days! Yippee! This is the most awesome thing. Thank you God. I know I am not doing this by myself. My Higher Power is helping me every step of the way. I am so grateful that I can smell things, breathe without a rattle or cough, I can taste things, (sometimes the smell and taste thing isn’t so good, like fat free Cappuccino. Yuk!)

All this after only 16 days. Amazing how fast my abused body is healing itself. I have gained about 8 pounds but I have joined the gym and gone five times. My favorite is the cardio workout on the treadmill or bike. It is so cool to get my heart rate up and breathe heavy without wheezing or coughing. I recover pretty fast too. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t all wonderful and lite. My body is healing and I want to sleep all the time. I used to be up at 5:00 or 5:30 a.m. every morning without fail, the same time every day. I didn’t need an alarm. Now I can’t get myself up with an alarm. I slept until 10:30 over the weekend. Very Weird. I guess my body isn’t waking me up for that nicotine fix. Last night I had to set my alarm across the room and set both alarms in case I kept snoozing it. One is set for the Radio and the other the alarm. The second one got me up. Very strange.
