Tonight’s the Night: American Idol Season 8

American Idol Season 8 kicks off tonight on Fox at 7 pm CST.

A new judge will be introduced, Kara DioGuardi. The old panel will be there as well as the newbie. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson are ready to rate the ‘talent’, I use the word loosely. I hope this season has some real talent, like back in the day of Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, and others. There wasn’t that much competition in Season 7. I hope Paula can keep her act together and not forget what is going on.

Tonight will tell the tale of the new judge Kara. I hope she isn’t a ‘positive people pleaser’. A little honesty, kind of like Randy and Simon judge the contestants. Well, we’ll see how it goes.

I Am A Rock

Smoke Free 175 Days!

A rock feels no pain; An an island never cries.

A winters day
In a deep and dark december;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
Ive built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
Its laughter and its loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Dont talk of love,
But Ive heard the words before;
Its sleeping in my memory.
I wont disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

American Idol-The David & David Show!

American Idol-The David & David Show!

Here we go!! It was definitely interesting last night but, by far David Archuletta and David Cook stole the show. Jason Castro was also good but paled in comparison to the Davids.
David Cook-American Idol
Hey girls, Carly, Brooke, Kristy & Syesha! Time to step it up or step out. Kristy did surprisingly well and Syesha hit it again. Brooke didn’t have a prayer, she doesn’t have the lungs to do Mariah, and Carly looks and sounds the same on every song. She needs to quit singing so ‘angry’ and lighten it up a bit. Maybe she could smile in one of her songs or do a silly happy song like Jason does. Who knows.

Okay, time for the bottom three:

Carly Smithson
Brooke White (is who it should be, but it probably will be Syesha)
Jason Castro (He could go home tonight)

Well, that’s my choices. What do you think? Who will be leaving Idol tonight? Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

American Idol-We lost Michael

American Idol-We lost Michael

Well, I have to say I wasn’t at all surprised about losing Michael Johns. He just didn’t perform well. I did feel sorry for him because unlike some of the other idols that have been booted off, he doesn’t have a uniqueness that will give him a lot of recording deals waiting in the wings. Although Dolly Parton did say something about coming to see her and she would put him to work immediately.

Okay, who have we got left? The final seven are-Brooke, Carly, David A., David C., Jason, Kristy, and Syesha. Tonight they will perform again and they are all going to have to be on their game. Each one has to have an outstanding, professional performance, in my opinion, or this will be their last gig.

We’ll see tonight who has what it takes to be the next American Idol. Who do you think will win it all? Who do you think will be in the top three-the bottom three?

American Idol-And then there were Eight

American Idol-And then there were eightr!

My favorite performance last night was Jason Castro singing, “Somewhere over the Rainbow.” I had not heard that version and I absolutely loved it!

David Cook’s performance was, as Simon says, “Forgettable!” Again, Kristy Lee Cook surprised me with “Anyway”, Martina McBrides hit song. She actually did pretty well. Syesha rocked again with Fantasia’s song. I hated Carly’s song. I was bored by Brooke’s version of “You got a friend.” Michael Johns was average as usual, and David Archuletta was excellent again.

Tonight is Idol Gives Back, which will be excellent music and for a good cause. Tomorrow night will be the elimination show. My picks for the bottom three are:

  • Michael Johns
  • Syesha
  • Kristy Lee Cook

When all is said and done, I hate to say it but I think Syesha will go home. She just doesn’t seem to have the fan base that Kristy has. I hope its Michael though. What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know! Have a great week.
