  • Acorn-for all the little oak trees that will be growing this Spring from Acorns that fell last Fall.
  • Acupuncture-I have heard great things about this treatment and would not hesitate to try it as a cure for what ails me, (whatever that may be on any given day)!
  • Arachnophobia-Fear of Spiders
  • Archaic-No longer useful or efficient, (I have days when I feel like that)!
  • Alleviate-to make something such as pain or hardship more bearable or less severe. Now we know where the name for the medication Alieve comes from.
  • Activity-energetic physical movement or exercise is one definition, another is leisurely activities.
  • Apple-a yummy fruit that can be healthy or unhealthy, depending on how it is prepared. One of my faves is apple crumb cake made from the recipe on the Jiffy Cake Mix box:

    1 can apple pie filling
1 box Jiffy yellow cake mix
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 8 x 8 pan or pie dish. Pour in 1 can apple pie filling. Sprinkle cinnamon on top, as desired. Sprinkle cake mix over pie filling. Put pats of butter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  • 8. Arsenic-I know! Not a good thing to follow a recipe with but I am doing these as they pop into my head. Arsnic is poison that I believe is used in Rat poison. It also helps cure dogs with heart worms. So, it’s not all bad.

    9. Arsenal-Storage of lots of weapons, guns, knives, etc. can be used for protection or to harm someone. Or it could be an arsenal of resources, etc.

    13. Art-the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

Three Story Elements Needed for your Novel

This is from the story, “The Five Basic Story Elements: The Key Elements Needed Before the Novel is Written”

    1. Introduce the Main Character

Make sure there is a focal character or hero.

Even if there are two main characters, there is always one who is more important to the story, or whose journey is slightly more important or urgent than the other.
    2. Establish the Situation of Danger

There should be an element of trouble or danger that the character is working in.

If there isn’t any trouble, then there isn’t anything forcing the hero to act.

The trouble and the action doesn’t need to be something like Dr. Doom blowing up the world. It can be something as gentle as a mother’s terrible secret and erratic behavior impacting her daughter’s plans for college (The Queen of Sleepy Eye by Patti Hill).
    3. Define the Character’s External Goal

Here is where the writer clearly establishes what the character is going to be working toward for the entire novel. This is the prize or purpose the character is pursuing as he journeys into the unknown (The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler).

Here is where what the character wants (External Goal) and why he wants it (Motivation) is defined in order to round out the character’s personality (Goal, Motivation, and Conflict by Debra Dixon).

    It’s Tough Staying Healthy

I felt Healthier before I went to the Doctor!

    Smoke Free 200 Days!

I went to the Doctor for my “Well Woman” visit. I weigh 173 lbs. Ugggghhhhh!!! I have to have a colonoscopy because I am over 50. Uggghhhhh! I have to have my yearly July 31st. Ugggghhhhh! My osteoporosis rating was T -2.5. last fall and he ask if I was taking my Fosamax and I told him I was going to take care of that myself with Calcium Supplements and Walking. Oh no, he said that won’t do it. I have to rebuild the bone! I have to take osteo medicine. so I am going to call my insurance and see if they will cover the once a year Reclast shot. Uggggghhhh! I hate going to the Doc. I couldn’t eat and was poked & prodded, took blood from my little veins, and had an EKG with hairy legs. Uggggghhhhhh! I’m not doing this again for another 5 -10 years. It’s too much work. Luckily I broke it up by doing the Bone Density and Mammogram last fall and the Chest X-Ray and my Eye-Exam. It’s tough trying to stay healthy.

And did the Doc care that I walk everyday? No, he was not impressed. Did he care that I hadn’t had a cig for 6 months? Kind of happy but didn’t jump up and down or pat me on the back and say, “Good Job”. He didn’t say my lungs sounded better or nothing. He listened to my heart a lot, like even in my neck with the stethoscope. Kind of weird I thought.

Anyway, it all ended with me not being able to pee in the cup so I figured I will do that when I go on the 31st to the Lady Doc there for my yearly. Oh, and the lab gal sent me home with a poop card. Ugggghhhhh! It was a wonderful day…

Weep You No More, Sad Fountains

    Weep you no more, sad fountains;
What need you flow so fast?
    Look how the snowy mountains
    Heaven’s sun doth gently waste.

    But my sun’s heavenly eyes
    View not your weeping,
    That now lies sleeping
    Softly, now softly lies

    Sleep is a reconciling,
    A rest that peace begets:
Doth not the sun rise smiling
When fair at even he sets?

Rest you then, rest, sad eyes,
    Melt not in weeping,
    While she lies sleeping
    Softly, now softly lies
